Working with children and young people …

I hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate.

I have over a decade of experience working with children & young people (YP). My work with children takes place within London school settings or privately with young people (secondary school age only) in Barnes SW13. The room in Barnes is ideally suited for young people to make art and talking therapy. I offer one to one after-school appointments from 3pm to 6pm on week-days.

How it works:

The therapeutic relationship can offer the child/young person a safe confidential space to explore what is on their mind and how it may be impacting them and others. It can offer a place of solace where they can simply ventilate. Helping a child/young person gain an awareness of triggers and reactions to situations. It also offers a way to better imagine and tolerate another’s mind-as being separate, this can help improve empathy toward themselves and others. Offering strategies for better self regulation, self-confidence and improving relationships.

Young people are accompanied (where appropriate) to a weekly fifty minute session and collected promptly (where appropriate) by an adult after each session ends. There is no waiting area, however, there are many shops, cafes and a duck pond to visit while parent/carers wait.

My work with young people can help with:

  • Building self confidence
  • Lowering anxiety
  • Improving self regulation
  • Improving difficult behaviours
  • Improving and developing awareness and tolerance of boundaries
  • Calming and helps develop self reflection
  • Improving, fight flight freeze responses
  • Psycho-education develops self-awareness

I work with children and young people

who may be struggling with various difficulties such as:

  • Anger
  • Acting out challenging behaviours
  • Experience of prolonged bullying or are bullying others
  • Sibling rivalry
  • Loss
  • Often appearing depressed, down or sad
  • Have experience of domestic abuse
  • Separation anxiety

My work in schools, with Children’s Services and Post Adoption Services also includes working with Looked After Children (LACs) and with diagnosis such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autistic Spectrum disorder ASD, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, Oppositional Defiant disorder (ODD).
